10 Texas football games you can't miss in 2024: Aggies-Longhorns, Cowboys-Texans and more

It’s a big year for football fans in the state of Texas.

From the best high school talents to heated college rivalries to… whatever the Cowboys do, 2024 is going to be exciting.

Here are the state’s 10 football games you can’t miss in 2024, according to SportsDay, in order of play so you can plan accordingly:

Notre Dame at Texas A&M – College Station

Last duel: September 29, 2001 – Texas A&M 24, Notre Dame 3

It is the first of two home-and-away games between the two storied teams; the Aggies will travel to South Bend in 2025.

Florida State at SMU – Dallas

When: September 28, time to be announced

Last duel: N/A

Welcome to the ACC, Mustangs. Head coach Rhett Lashlee and QB Preston Stone lead SMU into their first-ever ACC conference game and their first-ever meeting with the Seminoles.

Duncanville near DeSoto — DeSoto

Last game: October 29, 2023 – DeSoto 49, Duncanville 35

DeSoto made the seemingly invincible Duncanville look mortal with its upset victory over the Panthers last season, with both teams winning a state championship in 2023.

Oklahoma vs. Texas – Dallas

Last duel: October 7, 2023 – Oklahoma 34, Texas 30

The historic rivalry continues with one big change: It’s now an SEC conference game. Texas leads the overall standings 63-51-5.

Last duel: January 1, 2019 (Allstate Sugar Bowl) — Texas 28, Georgia 21

After missing out on their third straight win last season, the Bulldogs are once again favorites for the SEC title. October should be a tough one for the Horns.

The two sides of the bitter rivalry parted ways last season, with both teams finishing extremely disappointingly in the first round of the playoffs, despite the Eagles having a much better offseason than Dallas.

Texans at Cowboys – Arlington

When: 18 Nov (Mon), 19:17

Last duel: December 11, 2022 – Cowboys 27, Texans 23

The two Lone Star State teams meet after a season in which Houston won its first playoff game since 2019. Dallas leads the all-time series 4-2.

Last duel: The rivalry is resuming for the first time in 13 seasons. As expected, ticket prices have already gone through the roof.
