‘1,000-Lb Sisters’ star Amy Slaton arrested for possession and child endangerment after incident at Tennessee Zoo

Amy Slaton-Halterman, one half of TLC’s “1,000-lb Sisters,” was arrested on drug possession and child endangerment charges following an incident at a Tennessee zoo on Monday.

According to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department, officers arrived at the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo on Labor Day after a camel bite was reported.

“Officers were requested to come to the Safari Park where a guest was allegedly bitten by a camel,” the Sheriff’s Department wrote on Facebook. “Upon arrival, officers were immediately surprised by suspicious odors coming from the guest’s vehicle.”

Authorities charged Slaton-Halterman and her companion, Brian Scott Lovvorn, with child endangerment and drug possession after finding psychoactive mushrooms and marijuana in their car, where their two children were present. They were both charged with possession of Schedule I and VI drugs and two counts of child endangerment. They are reportedly still in custody at the Crockett County Jail.

A day later, a photo of the reality TV star leaving the zoo surfaced on TMZ. It appears to show Slaton-Halterman leaving the zoo on a stretcher, with a shirt wrapped around her arm in her hand, suggesting she may have been the one who bit.

However, one of the safari park’s owners, Jon Conley, denied these reports, stating that Slaton-Halterman could not have been bitten by the animal because her alleged injury did not resemble that of a camel bite, as her skin appeared to be cut and without bruising.

TheWrap has reached out to TLC for further comment.

Slaton-Halterman stars in “1,000-lb Sisters” alongside her sister Tammy Slaton and her ex Michael Halterman. The series premiered in 2020 and just finished its fifth season in February.
