3 people arrested after chase for clothing theft at Kohl’s store in Simi Valley

Three people were arrested after a chase for stealing clothing from a Kohl’s store in Simi Valley.

The incident occurred late in the afternoon of August 24 after Simi Valley police were notified of a broken license plate on a stolen car. The car was then found in the parking lot of a Kohl’s on Tapo Canyon Road.

As officers arrived and attempted to make contact with two people in the vehicle, a third person exited Kohl’s, reportedly carrying an armful of clothing, and entered the car.

A chase was initiated and ended about 12 miles into the foothills near the Santa Clara Valley Gas Plant. The three people in the car were arrested and clothing valued at $734 was found in the car.

Police said the vehicle the suspects were in was confirmed stolen in Cerritos. An 18-year-old was arrested and booked on suspicion of possession of a stolen car, organized shoplifting and other charges. Two juveniles in the car were arrested and charged with organized shoplifting and conspiracy and released to their family members, police said.
