ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a young woman outside a Newton County gas station in July, the sheriff’s office said.

According to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, 18-year-old Damenica Roddy was killed shortly after 1 a.m. on July 21 outside a music studio next to the Chevron gas station on Highway 36 in Covington.

Deputies said Tirell Tommie and Israel Richardson were arrested on August 21 and Savion Walker on August 23.

All three 19-year-old suspects are from Covington. They are being held at the Newton County Detention Center. They are charged with murder, three counts of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and making false statements or pleadings.

The sheriff’s office said U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport assisted in Walker’s arrest after a flight back to the United States.

“These arrests reflect our ongoing commitment to justice and the safety of our community,” Sheriff Ezell Brown said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the Roddy family during this difficult time. We hope these arrests provide them with a sense of closure as they begin the healing process. We stand by their side and will continue to support them during this time.”
