2. Reddit’s popularity skyrockets following its IPO, and its content appears to influence purchasing decisions.

Social media platform Reddit has seen a rapid increase in site traffic since its IPO in March, likely due in part to improved visibility in Google search results. The latest data from CivicScience shows a significant increase in the number of U.S. adults visiting the platform, from 38% in 2021 to 50% in 2024.

This growth could be a promising development for advertisers and publishers. Reddit has become a growing source of referral traffic, and the platform’s users are proving receptive to advertising and other user recommendations. Further data shows that 25% of Reddit users are likely to purchase items they see advertised on Reddit, and 45% say their purchasing decisions are influenced by the community’s comments and advice. 1

3. Two-thirds of Americans enjoy shopping at farmers markets because they want to support local produce and enjoy high-quality produce.

According to new data from CivicScience About two-thirds of U.S. adults enjoy going to farmers markets, while 11% have been to one but didn’t like it.2 Consumers from middle-income ($50,000 to $100,000) and higher-income ($100,000 and more) households are significantly more likely to have shopped at a farmers market and are more likely to report that they enjoy shopping there.

Americans who frequent farmers’ markets cite supporting local farmers and gardeners, purchasing better-tasting produce, and finding healthier foods as the top reasons for doing so. Conversely, those who do not shop at farmers’ markets cite inconvenience compared to grocery stores, lack of nearby markets, and limited or inconvenient hours as the top reasons for not shopping at farmers’ markets.
