Tensions arose at the end of the Los Angeles Rams’ 27-24 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

After the final play of the game, which nearly resulted in an improbable touchdown for San Francisco, 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk exchanged shoves with players on the Rams sideline.

After securing first place in the NFC last season, the 49ers have lost two of their first three games to begin the 2024 season.

The Rams trailed 24-14 just halfway through the fourth quarter on Sunday, but were able to tie the game with less than two minutes left in regulation.

Los Angeles secured another possession and took the lead for the first time of the day with a field goal by Joshua Karty on the ensuing drive.

Aiyuk completed just five of his ten passes over 48 yards against the Rams and failed to reach the end zone. The 26-year-old had a slow start to the season, managing just 119 yards and zero touchdowns in his three appearances.

He still took the time before the game to address San Francisco’s NFC West rival, referring to the 49ers fans who filled SoFi Stadium.

“We love playing down there,” Aiyuk told reporters Wednesday. “We love seeing all that red down there, a little domed home stadium. So we’re excited.”

After 1,342 yards and eight touchdowns in 2023 and the subsequent signing of a four-year contract Contract extension The former first-round pick underperformed at $120 million to start the year.

With the 49ers and Rams both trying to get back to the playoffs, the two teams don’t seem to be on friendly terms and will face off again in Week 15.
