Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets travel west to face Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers in the first game of the 2024 Monday Night Football schedule in Week 1. Both teams are considered favorites to win the Lombardi Trophy, but 2023 couldn’t have gone any differently for either team.

After an offseason full of hope and promise, Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon and missed the entire 2023 season after just four games as the Jets’ quarterback. Despite a questionable return, the team ultimately failed to make the playoffs – a bitter end to a season brimming with Super Bowl hype.

The 49ers made it to the final game of the season, but once again fell just short of a win, and once again it fell to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. After weathering some difficult contract issues with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and tackle Trent Williams, Kyle Shanahan’s offense is back in place and ready to rise to the top of the NFC.

The Jets’ game against the 49ers begins at 8:15 p.m. ET at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

ESPN will once again be the broadcast headquarters for Monday Night Football. The long-time team of Joe Buck (live commentary) and Troy Aikman (color) will be on the phone, with Lisa Salters reporting from the sidelines.

Viewers can also tune in to the “ManningCast” with Peyton and Eli Manning on ESPN2.

Those without cable and wanting to stream the game live can turn to Fubo TV. Fubo TV carries NBC as well as CBS, FOX, NFL Network and the ESPN family of channels, so you can watch NFL action for the rest of the season.

ESPN+, ESPN’s proprietary streaming service, will also broadcast the game.
