1. Conspiracy Chocolate Workshop

Put your treats to work at a two-hour chocolate-making workshop from Conspiracy Chocolate on Sunday 25 August, where you can try out the techniques for processing beans into bars.

The workshop begins with a little explanation of the history and properties of cocoa and the processing of cocoa beans. The various steps are then explained, from winnowing and grinding the beans on stones to tempering and shaping the chocolate.

Each participant can take home four bars of their own homemade chocolate, packaged in Conspiracy Chocolate’s signature packaging.

The Chocolate Lab, Unit A&B, 8/F, Block 2, Kingley Industrial Building, 33 Yip Kan Street, Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong. 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., August 25, 2023. Tickets at www.conspiracychocolate.com.

2. The old bookstore

If you want to enjoy a leisurely weekend with a good book and coffee, visit The Old Book Store in Causeway Bay, where customers can bring a beloved book they no longer need and donate it in exchange for a cup of coffee. This month, the bookstore/café is continuing its Haruki Murakami Topic, with the works of the Japanese author taking center stage.

3. Men-ya New Old

Cool off with Japan’s hottest noodle trend this summer: Kombusui Tsukemen consists of elastic noodles that are dipped in a seaweed broth (kombu means seaweed, while so means water in Japanese), which has a slightly sticky consistency thanks to the algae.

It is the trademark of Men-ya New Old, recently opened by the team behind popular noodle restaurants Zagin Soba and Maru de Sankaku nearby.
