Hot Dogs
If you’ve hosted a backyard barbecue this summer, or even had a campfire while camping, you’ve probably picked up a few hot dogs along the way. They’re easy to make and a great addition to any outdoor cooking session. They also pair well with dishes like mac and cheese – sliced, of course.
At Aldi, you can get a pack of hot dogs for just over $1. It contains eight hot dogs.
At Walmart, you can find a similar pack of hot dogs for $1.18. At Target, a pack of Bar-S Classic Franks is one of the cheapest options at $1.29.

yogurt
Yogurt can be surprisingly expensive, especially if you opt for specialty brands, but since Aldi has mostly own brands, you’re sure to find some savings here.
Take Friendly Farms Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt, for example. It’s cheap, so you can get two for just over $1. Or stick with just one if you just want a snack. If you choose two, add granola and berries to make a proper breakfast. Or whip up a smoothie. All the other ingredients you need are available at Aldi – at a reasonable price.
Walmart has Yoplait’s original strawberry banana yogurt in the same size, but it costs $0.72. Target also sells Yoplait yogurt in several flavors, but those cost about $0.79 each.
Canned tuna
Walmart and Target may not have great prices on canned tuna, but Aldi offers a decent discount. They’ll give you a package of chunked tuna for less than other stores. It’s inexpensive, tasty, and goes well with salads, sandwiches, and pasta dishes.
In comparison, Walmart has the Great Value Chunk Light Tuna in Water for $0.88. Target has the Good & Gather Chunk Light Tuna in Water for $0.99. These are both store brands, but they are still more expensive than Aldi’s store brand.

Pasta is a staple in many households. When stored properly, it has a long shelf life and is versatile enough to serve as the basis for many hearty dishes, from casseroles to pasta salads.
If you use pasta often, you’ll want to find the best deals. One option is Reggano’s tri-color rotini macaroni at Aldi, which is well under $1.
A comparable option at Target is Good & Gather’s tri-colored rotini for $0.99. Walmart sells its own version of the pasta for $0.98.
Spices and seasonings
Another kitchen staple is spices and seasonings. The price differences between stores are sometimes negligible, but the savings can add up.
For example, Aldi sells garlic powder for $0.85 in a 3.12-ounce container. At Walmart, you can get the store-brand seasoning for $1.12. Target’s generic option costs $1.19.
Better offers
