Following a shooting that left five people injured in Franklin Park on Sunday evening, Boston police are asking the public for help in the ongoing investigation.

Officers responding to the Dominican Festival heard gunshots near Circuit Drive at 8:43 p.m. as the event was coming to a close. Three men and two women sustained non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The Dominican Festival was scheduled to run from noon to 10 p.m. According to an event announcement, a parade was scheduled to begin on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain and end in Franklin Park.

Boston Police Chief Michael Cox urged anyone with video footage or other information to contact Boston Police.

“There were many, many witnesses,” Cox said at a press conference. “We need the public’s support in this matter.”

Emergency responders took the victims to a local hospital and police found another victim who was also taken for medical treatment, he said.

The department is sparing “no expense” in the investigation, Cox said.

“We must hold these people accountable,” he said. “Whether it is one person or several who are responsible for this heinous act.”
