Kate Middleton completes chemotherapy and will return to work

Kate Middleton has announced that she has completed her chemotherapy.

In a video shared on Monday, the Princess of Wales said she is entering a “new phase of recovery” after completing treatment following her cancer diagnosis, which she announced in March. The video shows Middleton alongside Prince William and their three children.

“Summer is coming to an end and I can’t tell you what a relief it is to finally have completed my chemotherapy. The last nine months have been incredibly hard on us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and the unknown path,” she said.

She continued: “Cancer is complex, scary and unpredictable for anyone, especially those closest to you. With humility, you also confront your own vulnerabilities in ways you’ve never considered before and gain a new perspective on everything. Most of all, this time has reminded William and me to reflect on and be grateful for the simple but important things in life that so many of us often take for granted. Simply to love and be loved.”

Middleton further noted that after completing treatment, “my focus now is to do everything I can to stay cancer-free. Although I have completed chemotherapy, my road to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”

She also announced that she is now “looking forward to getting back to work and, if possible, making some more public appearances in the coming months.”

“Despite everything that has happened before, I begin this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation for life,” she said. “William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn much strength from all those helping us during this time. The kindness, compassion and empathy of everyone has truly impressed us. To everyone continuing their own cancer journey – I stand with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of the darkness can come light, so let that light shine brightly.”

In June, the Princess of Wales posted a message thanking everyone for the well wishes she had received after announcing her battle with cancer amid mounting speculation about her whereabouts and health. She also gave an update on her treatment at the time, confirming that it was “ongoing” and would continue for “a few more months”. “On the days I feel well enough, it’s a joy to be able to take part in school life, spend my personal time doing things that give me energy and positivity, and also start to do a little bit of working from home,” she said at the time.

“I’m learning to be patient, especially during times of uncertainty,” she continued. “I’m taking each day as it comes, listening to my body and giving myself much-needed time to heal. Thank you for your continued understanding and to everyone who has so bravely shared their stories with me.”
