Republicans who supported Kamala Harris and opposed Trump

Washington — Vice President Kamala Harris goes to the Presidential debate with former President Donald Trump on Tuesday caught in a tight race with her Republican opponent, but ahead of the 2024 election, she is increasingly supported by Republicans.

Harris and Trump are about to face off in Philadelphia in their first and perhaps only debate before election day. Scaramucci and Troye are not the only Republicans who have announced their support for Harris. And the Democratic presidential candidate’s campaign has launched the “Republicans for Harris” campaign to increase its outreach to Republican voters who oppose Trump.

Several Republicans supports Harris at the Democratic National Convention in August, while a group of more than 200 people who had worked for former Presidents George HW Bush and George W. Bush, as well as Senator Mitt Romney and the late Senator John McCain, signed on a letter Support the Democratic candidate.

Cheney was one of Trump’s most vocal Republican critics, and she announced her intention to vote for Harris during an event at Duke University on September 4. She represented Wyoming in the House for six years, including two years in the Republican Party leadership as congressional chair before being ousted from the leadership position by pro-Trump Republicans and then defeated in a primary by a Trump-backed challenger.

“I don’t think we have the luxury of putting the names of the candidates on the ballot, especially in the swing states,” Cheney said. “As a conservative, as someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution, I’ve thought about this carefully. And because of the danger posed by Donald Trump, not only will I not vote for Donald Trump, I will vote for Kamala Harris.”

The former vice president joined his daughter Liz Cheney, announced that Harris in November. Cheney has had a long career in Republican politics, serving four presidents. In addition to serving as Vice President under President George W. Bush, Cheney served as Secretary of Defense under President George HW Bush and White House Chief of Staff under President Gerald Ford. He represented Wyoming in the House of Representatives for ten years.

“In our country’s 248-year history, there has never been anyone who poses a greater threat to our Republic than Donald Trump,” he said in a statement on Sept. 6. “He attempted to rig the last election with lies and violence to cling to power after voters rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again. As citizens, we all have a duty to put country above partisan politics to defend our Constitution. That’s why I will cast my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.”

Like Liz Cheney, Kinzinger was one of Trump’s harshest critics. The former congressman from Illinois appeared at the Democratic National Convention on August 22nd Republicans urge to support Harris in November.

“Donald Trump has suffocated the soul of the Republican Party,” he said. “His fundamental weakness has gripped my party like a disease.”

Kinzinger’s message to GOP voters was: “Vote for our core values ​​and vote for Kamala Harris.”

She said the Republican candidate’s goal was to “sow doubt and discord” and called a vote for Harris a vote for democracy.

“They are not betraying our party,” she said of the Republicans. “They are standing up for our country.”

“Kamala Harris is capable and has a great team,” he said in a social media post in July.
