Trump-Harris debate ABC: “Crazy”: Donald Trump faces questions about his age and legal capacity in debate with Harris

In the last debate that cost President Joe Biden his candidacy, the question of age hung over him. The faltering and stuttering Biden faced an energetic Donald Trump, who was pushing through his re-election. But now the tables have turned, as today’s ABC News debate pits 78-year-old Trump against 59-year-old Kamala Harris. It is Trump who now faces questions about his age and his ability to perform, especially after his ramblings in recent press conferences.
Trump’s estranged niece, who is a psychologist, recently suggested that Trump is “demented” and that most of his comments make no sense. A case in point is Donald Trump’s appearance at the Economic Club of New York, where he was asked what kind of legislation he would push to make child care affordable. In his lengthy answer, Trump said at one point, “Child care is child care.” His full response was, “Well, I would do that, and we sit down, I was somebody, we had Senator Marco Rubio, and my daughter Ivanka was very influential on this issue. It’s a very important issue, but I think when you talk about the numbers I mean, I think, because look, child care is child care. There’s something you have to have in this country, you have to have it.”
Mary Trump said everything he said was gibberish and that only the phrase “childcare is childcare” made sense. She called it deeply disturbing that someone as “crazy and incoherent as Donald is even allowed to run for president.”
“Trump’s ramblings are getting worse”
While Mary Trump is a well-known critic of the former president, people who have worked with him have also noticed that Trump’s ramblings have gotten progressively worse. Stephanie Grisham, who served as Trump’s White House press secretary until the Capitol riot, said Trump’s ramblings are definitely getting worse. “I don’t know if it’s age or some kind of mental decline. I think the media, the public and certainly his supporters have become desensitized to a man who is constantly lying and rambling, and that’s unfortunate.”
“Trump has more energy than anyone else”
Trump reportedly suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder after the Pennsylvania attack. When Trump was caught watching the clip of the attack over and over again, his campaign team lost momentum. But now, ahead of the debate, Trump’s campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said Trump has more energy and stamina than anyone else in politics. “People know that President Trump is the strongest candidate. He has outperformed and outrun Kamala Harris, who continues to avoid the press. The Democrats and Kamala are the ones who are weakened because of all the suffering they have inflicted on this country,” the NYT quoted him as saying.
