Trump claims he wasn’t a fan of Taylor Swift while trying to dismiss her support for Harris

Donald Trump warned that Taylor Swift would “likely pay a price” for her support of Kamala Harris as he dismissed the snub after Tuesday night’s debate.

Trump dialed in to Fox & Friends and dismissed the megastar’s support for his opponent, saying he was “not a fan” of the singer.

“I wasn’t a Taylor Swift fan,” he said. “It was just a matter of time. She couldn’t possibly support Biden… But she’s a very liberal person. She always seems to support a Democrat and will probably pay a price for that in the market.”

Trump said he prefers Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. “I like Brittany, I think Brittany is great,” he said. “Brittany got a lot of news last week, she’s a big MAGA fan, that’s the one I like a lot more than Taylor Swift.”

When Trump was first asked about his reaction to the news after the debate, he told CNN, “I have no idea.”

Swift, who has enormous influence among younger voters, broke her silence shortly after the heated debate and officially endorsed Harris as a presidential candidate.

In a long post on Instagram after watching the debate, she said Harris is “fighting for the rights and causes I believe in.”

“Like many of you, I watched tonight’s debate. If you haven’t already, now is a good time to educate yourself on the issues at hand and these candidates’ positions on the issues that matter most to you,” she wrote. “As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can find about their proposed policies and plans for this country.

“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes that I believe need a fighter to represent them.”

Trump had previously shared several deepfake images of the Cruel Summer singer, including a propaganda poster of Swift dressed as Uncle Sam, pointing at the viewer and overlaid with the message “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump.”

She called him out for it in her support of Harris. “I recently became aware that an AI post was posted on his page in which ‘I’ falsely endorsed Donald Trump’s candidacy for president,” Swift wrote. “This really heightened my fears about AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation.”

Tim Walz was told that Swift had supported him and Harris live on air. In an interview on MSNBC, he held his hand over his heart as host Rachel Maddow read him the star’s statement.

“Wow,” he mouthed. “First of all, I am incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift. I say that as a cat owner, as a cat owner with me,” Walz said. “That was eloquent and clear, and that’s the kind of courage we need in America to stand up.”

He added: “We’ve seen it with the Republicans who were at the DNC. We’ve seen it with women who would like to keep their private lives private but are forced to come out because they almost died because they can’t get abortion services while pregnant, and now you have someone like Taylor Swift coming out and making that very clear.”

And in an apparent nod to Swift, Harris’ X-account shared a photo of Harris-Walz friendship bracelets in the style of the bracelets her fans exchange at her concerts.

Swifties For Kamala, which describes itself as a coalition of Swift fans working together to support progressive candidates in U.S. elections, said they were “thrilled” by the news.

“We knew she would speak at the right time and we are so excited to continue the fight,” added Irene Kim, co-founder of Swifties For Kamala.
