Shelter at Lake Brantley High School after weapons found on campus

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Florida. – Lake Brantley High School was placed under Code Yellow on Wednesday due to a firearm on campus.

According to an email sent to parents, the school was placed on lockdown after a tip was received about a possible gun on campus. Police soon found a gun and a person – initially identified as a student – who has since been taken into custody and is currently being questioned. All students and staff are safe, the email continued.

School officials remind parents that “Code Yellow” means the school grounds are closed, so no one is allowed to enter or leave the premises. Classes and classroom activities will continue.

“Please do NOT attempt to come to campus at this time as students cannot be released until we receive the all-clear from law enforcement.”

In a follow-up message to parents before 9:30 a.m., school officials said the campus remains under a yellow alert while police and gun-sniffing dogs conduct a raid.

Lake Brantley authorities say they will release more details as information becomes available.
