More than 337,000 people visit Taylor Swift’s link to register to vote

Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as a presidential candidate could increase the number of registered voters beyond a “bolder dream” of the Democrats.

The General Services Administration, which manages the website, confirmed to NBC News that as of 2 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, 337,826 people had visited a custom URL that Swift posted on Instagram when she announced her support for Harris.

The custom URL directs users to vote.gov, a website that helps visitors register to vote in their state. The site also explains Americans’ voting rights, explains voting processes, and provides a list of frequently asked questions.

Swift’s post on Tuesday, which received more than 9.6 million likes, urged voters to do their own research and remember to register to vote.

“I’ve done my research and made my choice,” she said. “Your research is all yours, and the choice is yours. I also want to say, especially to first-time voters: remember you have to be registered to vote! I also find it much easier to vote early. In my story, I’ll post links to where to register and find dates and information on early voting.”

To boost Harris’ campaign, Swift announced her support to her 283 million Instagram followers after the debate.

“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes that I believe need a warrior to represent them,” Swift said in her post. “I think she is a calm, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country when we are led by calm, not chaos.”
