It’s the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, and unsurprisingly, our favorite espresso-drinking pop star has done it again… and for once, we’re not talking about her music. After a summer full of chart-topping hits, Cosmopolitan’s Spring cover girl and today’s VMA Song of the Year winner Sabrina Carpenter took her pop star aura to a whole new level on the red carpet.

While we’re used to seeing our girl in booty shorts, sky-high platforms, and ’60s babydoll dresses, tonight at the VMAs she recalled Madonna from the 1991 Oscars era.

Sabrina wore a vintage Bob Mackie dress, styled by Jared Ellner, that Madonna originally wore to the 1991 Oscars. The strapless white dress is covered from head to toe in sparkling sequins and features a crystal-embellished sweetheart neckline. Sabrina completed her look with jewels from De Beers.

For glamour, Sabrina paid tribute to another icon: Marilyn Monroe. Her blonde hair was full of bouncy curls and she wore her iconic bangs. Her icy eyeshadow, soft eyeliner and deep ombre lips matched the dress perfectly. It’s safe to say she looked stunning!

Sabrina Carpenter won the VMAs on stage and on the red carpet. It should come as no surprise that she aces every step of the way, be it her wardrobe choices or her musical ones. After all, she works late into the night… because she is a singer. And we don’t expect it to stop any time soon.
