Shawn Mendes presents his new single “Nobody Knows” live at the MTV VMAs 2024

Shawn Mendes rocked the VMA stage!

On Wednesday, September 11, the 26-year-old singer of “In My Blood” presented his new single “Nobody Knows” – from his upcoming fifth album. Shawn — live at the awards ceremony, his first televised appearance with the LP.

During the set, Mendes, who last performed at the VMAs in 2021, delivered a stripped-down version of the new single, which will be released at midnight on Thursday, September 12.

Wearing a black shirt unbuttoned to accentuate his chest, Mendes performed amid a cluster of candles, smiling throughout the song and showing off his vocal range during an electrifying climax.

The singer/songwriter’s performance was announced last month along with artists such as Anitta, Karol G, LL Cool J and Shawn Mendes.

Anitta will now take the VMAs stage for the third year in a row, performing a medley of “Savage Funk” and “Algeria” and the world premiere of “Paradise” with Fat Joe, DJ Khaled and Tiago PZK. She received three nominations this year, including Best Latin Song.

In 2023, Karol G won her first Moon Person and is nominated in the Best Latin category this year. She released her latest album, Mañana is a beautiful placein February 2023.

LL Cool J will return to the VMAs for the 50th anniversary of the hip-hop tribute with his first performance in over 25 years. He received the Video Vanguard Award in 1997 and his first Moon Person in 1991.

Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, Halsey, Lenny Kravitz, Lisa and Benson Boone will also perform at the VMAs.

Last month, Mendes released his first new solo songs since his 2023 charity single “What the Hell Are We Dying For?” with “Why Why Why” and “Isn’t That Enough.” His upcoming album Shawnwhich he announced early last month, will be his first new LP since 2020 Wonder.

The album is Mendes’ “most musically intimate and lyrically honest work to date” and promises listeners a “profound self-dialogue” in each of the twelve songs, according to a press release.

The 2024 MTV VMAs will air live from the UBS Arena in New York on September 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
