Rain causes traffic jams in parts of Delhi – The Week

New Delhi, Sept 12 (PTI) – Traffic jams occurred in several parts of the national capital, including East and West Delhi, on Thursday due to floods following rains in Delhi.
Parts of Delhi-NCR, including India Gate, Janpath Road, RK Puram, Kalindikunj, Gazipur, Indirapuram, Laxmi Nagar, Dwarka, Connaught Place, Noida, Safdarjung, Uttam Nagar, East of Kailash and Rohini, experienced light rainfall on Thursday morning.
On social media platform X, police said there were traffic disruptions on Old Pankha Road on the carriageway from T-Point Uttam Nagar East metro station towards Pankha Road due to a large pothole.
“Due to accumulation of water near GTK depot, traffic on GTK Road is affected both on the carriageway from Mukarba Chowk to Azadpur Chowk and vice versa,” the Delhi Traffic Police wrote in a post on X.
Another post said that traffic on MB Road on the Khanpur T Point to Mehrauli and vice versa carriageway was affected due to potholes and flooding.
The same applies to potholes and traffic jams on Rohtak Road.
On Najafgarh Road, vehicular traffic is disrupted on the Nawada-Uttam Nagar carriageway due to ongoing work by Bombay Suburban Electric Supply (BSES), police said.
Commuter Rohit Tomar, a lawyer, said, “There was a heavy traffic jam near IHBAS Hospital in Dilshad Garden. It took me half an hour extra to reach the court in Karkardooma where an important hearing was taking place.”
Traffic congestion was also reported on the road near Britannia flyover and Punjabi Bagh in west Delhi and on Mangolpuri flyover in northwest Delhi.
Another commuter, Gaurav Kumar, mentioned that traffic was affected near Haiderpur and Rohini East metro stations.
