For Cardi B it just means: “Up to date!”
The 31-year-old rapper and her estranged husband Offset welcomed their third baby together more than a month after Cardi filed for divorce.
“The prettiest little thing,” Cardi captioned a Sept. 12 Instagram post alongside photos of herself, Offset, 32, and their two older children, Kulture, 6, and Wave, 3, in the hospital.
Cardi also noted the date of birth as “9/7/24.”
The “WAP” rapper first announced her pregnancy on August 1, hours after filing for divorce from the Migos star.
Cardi showed off her belly on Instagram in an elegant red dress and told her followers: “With every end comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this time with you. You have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my strength! You have reminded me that I can have it all!”
“You reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love and my passion! I love you so much and can’t wait for you to witness what you’ve helped me achieve, what you’ve pushed me to do,” she continued. “It’s so much easier to just take life’s twists and turns and trials in stride, but you, your brother and your sister have shown me why it’s worth persevering!”
According to her divorce petition, the mother of three children requested sole custody of the children from Offset as well as the payment of child support.
The petition stated that there were “irreconcilable differences between the on-again, off-again couple which led to the breakdown of the marriage” and that “there is no reasonable prospect of reconciliation.”
Cardi and Offset married in 2017 and have took a break during their marriage. The two first went their separate ways in 2018 when rumors of infidelity arose.
They publicly reunited in 2019, attending events and award shows together before splitting in 2020. At that time, Cardi filed for divorce before dismissing the lawsuit later that year.
Fast forward to 2023, and the duo had split again. In December, Cardi shared on her Instagram Live, “I’ve been single for a minute now, but I was scared to like – not scared, I just don’t know how to tell the world. But I feel like today was a sign. Last time I was on Live, I kind of wanted to tell you guys, but I didn’t know how to tell you guys, so I changed my mind. But now it’s been like this for a minute. I just saw it as a sign.”
She confessed that she was looking for a new beginning at the time.
“I want to start 2024 fresh and open,” said the superstar. “I don’t know. I’m curious about a new life, a new beginning. And yes, I’m excited.”
Last May, after a brief reconciliation on New Year’s Day, the “Up” singer reflected on the status of her relationship with Offset.
“I think about it,” Cardi told Rolling Stone. “We think about it because we love each other. It’s not even about love. We’re best friends. And it’s like, ‘OK. Well, there was a time when I didn’t have a best friend or a support system.'”
Cardi added, “It’s not even about, ‘How do you leave a partner?’ How do you stop talking to your best friend?”
The “Bodak Yellow” rapper admitted that her career and her children are more important to her than her partner.
“Sometimes I don’t realize that there are so many things more important to me than my relationship,” Cardi said.
Despite the ups and downs of her ex-partners, Cardi values their close bond.
“What I love about it is that we really like each other, like we’re a support system,” she added. “We’re really each other’s cheerleaders.”
Offset was the first partner to build Cardi up instead of tearing her down.
“He never made me feel small to him,” she explained. “In fact, he always said to me, ‘You damn superstar, watch out.'”
