Damar Hamlin sends heartfelt message to Tua Tagovailoa after collision at Dolphins-Bills

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin shared a heartfelt message with Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on Thursday night, hours after the two collided in an unfortunate moment at Hard Rock Stadium.

On fourth-and-four in the third quarter, Tagovailoa used his legs to get a first down before being stopped by Hamlin. Tagovailoa’s head hit Hamlin’s chest and the quarterback fell awkwardly to the ground and had to leave the game. A few minutes later, he was taken out of the game by the Dolphins due to a concussion.

After the Bills’ 31-10 win over the Dolphins, Hamlin wished Tagovailoa well on social media.

Of course, Hamlin is familiar with frightening health-related incidents on the football field.

During a game against the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2, 2023, Hamlin collapsed to the ground after a routine tackle on receiver Tee Higgins. Hamlin went into cardiac arrest and his heartbeat was revived on the field after medical personnel performed CPR.

Hamlin stayed in the hospital for over a week and made a full recovery – and finally returned to the football field. He played five games for Buffalo last season and entered the 2024 season as the Bills’ starting safety.

Hamlin collected 10 tackles on Thursday night, the most on his team, and the Bills improved their record to 2-0.

Hopefully Tagovailoa’s story has a happy ending – just as Hamlin continues his own.
