Oasis fans have last chance to secure Wembley tickets: invitations to vote will be sent by email

Oasis fans have one last chance to get their hands on tickets to one of the rock band’s Wembley shows, as the final invitation to the upsell ticket sale goes out today (Friday 13 September).

The Manchester-formed band announced they would play two more shows at London’s Wembley Stadium next year after thousands of fans were devastated following the Ticketmaster debacle which saw many thrown out of the ticket purchase queue.

Others were angry because they refused to spend thousands of pounds on tickets, even though Ticketmaster had introduced a controversial “dynamic pricing” system that drove prices up to more than double the original amount.

Many fans were shocked when the price of standard tickets for the reunion tour more than doubled from £148 to £355 on Ticketmaster. The uproar prompted the government and the UK competition authority to investigate the use of dynamic pricing.

The consumer protection organization Which? has now called on Ticketmaster to “do the right thing” and refund the money of fans who were harmed by the inflated ticket prices.

In a statement on Wednesday, Oasis said it hoped the new strategy of selling tickets via private raffles would “make the process much smoother for fans by reducing the stress and time” of purchasing tickets.

Successful Oasis fans will be contacted by 9pm today at the latest. A lottery code does not guarantee that they can buy a ticket, as tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis.

Those who receive a code will be contacted by Oasismynet via email with details and timing of final ticket sales for the additional dates on 27 and 28 September next year.

The additional shows will take place on September 27th and 28th at Wembley Stadium.

When announcing the private vote last weekend, the band said the number of participants would be “strictly limited” to “avoid long queues.”

Oasis announced their long-awaited reunion last month. They will play a series of stadium concerts in London, Dublin, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Manchester next summer. The concerts will see brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher appear on stage for the first time since their backstage argument at France’s Rock en Seine festival in 2009.

Despite numerous rumors following news of the reunion, the band have ruled out a return to Knebworth Park for a repeat of their legendary 1996 concerts and have categorically denied claims that they would perform at the Glastonbury Festival in 2025.

Last weekend, Liam Gallagher spoke about his brother Noel for the first time since the reunion announcement. He said he would “not tolerate a bad word about him” and added that he would “blow him kisses between every song.”

He also corrected fans’ questions about whether “Liam Gallagher” would be doing a US tour, reminding them that it would be an Oasis tour.

The Independent understands that Liam and Noel have not yet discussed which acts they will support next year. Irish rock band Fontaines DC may have ruled themselves out following comments from guitarist Carlos O’Connell and bassist Conor Deegan III.
