Things come to a head when Richard Madden plays both the victim Leo Vardakis and his identical twin Elias. Woodley takes on the role of Elias’ wife, who is convinced that there may be a family conspiracy behind the murder of one of the twins.
“There is a part of me, and I think there is a part of so many of us, that just loves reading a good crime novel,” said Gordon-Levitt People Magazine of the film based on Jo Nesbø’s “The Jealous”.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley and Richard Madden took their roles to the next level by filming Killer Heat on location in Crete. Gordon-Levitt, who has long had a desire to travel for work, said filming in such an exotic location was a dream come true.
“I just consider it such a privilege. I feel so lucky,” he told the outlet. “I got to travel to a lot of different places and there are very, very few places more beautiful than the island of Crete. I had never been to Greece before I got to make this film and it’s a cliche – the beauty of Greece – but it’s a cliche for a reason. It’s bloody beautiful!”
“I think if you’re like me and you’re drawn to some of the more juicy characters and beautiful settings, then Shea and Richard are both so good at the setting of the island of Crete that you really couldn’t ask for a more beautiful place in the world,” Gordon-Levitt continued. “If you just want to be swept away by a mood, I think you’ll enjoy this film.”
“Killer Heat” is inspired by a short story
Inspired by Jo Nesbø’s short story “The Jealous Man”, “Killer Heat” revolves around the expatriate American detective Nick Bali (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), who investigates the supposed accidental death of the well-known shipping magnate Leo Vardakis (Richard Madden) on the picturesque island of Crete.
While police reports suggest a tragic accident, Vardakis’ sister-in-law (Shailene Woodley) suspects a crime and believes the truth is being swept under the rug.
