Lip Lap and Radio Coffee plan new stores in Austin

Lip Lap and Radio Coffee plan new stores in Austin

Austin’s bustling downtown will soon be home to two new pink shops. A luxury cosmetics brand is preparing to open its first location in Central Texas, and a long-standing coffee shop is planning to open a third location on the city’s east side.

Lip Lab, formerly Bite Beauty, the custom lipstick shop, announced via Facebook that makeup lovers can now reserve spots for its August 20 grand opening in Austin. It’s unclear when Radio Coffee and Bar will open its newest shop in the Rosewood neighborhood, but we do know it will be taking over the former Try Hard Coffee space in East Austin.

The popular cafe is known locally for its live music events, food trucks and cocktails. In addition to the future Rosewood store, Radio operates two locations in Manchaca and Montopolis.

As for the other pink store, Lip Lab Austin will be located on South Congress, the city’s main shopping street. In November 2023, Dallas-based real estate firm Rue Realty announced that Lip Lab would lease the space in the same building as Hermes, Alo, Nike and Face Foundrie.

The LVMH-owned brand offers customers the opportunity to create their own lipstick, lip balm and lip gloss at luxury prices. Premium experiences for custom butter balms start at $45, high-shine lip glosses start at $55 and lipsticks cost $65.

Lip Lab currently operates 11 stores in the U.S. and Canada, including one in Dallas. MySA has contacted Lip Lab and Radio Coffee for comment.
