There were many, many It took years, but the film adaptation of Scott Westerfeld’s “Uglies” is finally here.

The story, directed by McG, revolves around a society where every person at the age of 16 undergoes surgery to make them perfect. Perfect looks, perfect personality traits, whatever. Until they turn 16, they are known as “Ugly Ones” and live in a complex outside of the city.

The story centers on Tally Youngblood, a young girl who discovers that surgery may not be as perfect as it seems. But if you’re reading this article, you’re probably trying to match some of those perfect faces before turning on the movie.

Tally Youngblood (Joey King)

Tally is our heroine in this film, played by Netflix star Joey King. Fans will instantly recognize her from The Kissing Booth movies, but she most recently starred in A Family Affair on Netflix with Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman. King’s best known roles also include Ramona and Beezus, The Conjuring, The Act, We Were the Lucky Ones, and Bullet Train.

Peris (Chase Stokes)

Peris is Tally’s best friend, even though she calls him Nose from the start (he calls her Squint). However, after his surgery, he takes a dark turn. He is played by Chase Stokes, best known for his role as John B. Routledge in Outer Banks.

Shay (Brianne Tju)

Shay quickly becomes Tally’s best friend after Peris leaves for his surgery. She is played by Brianne Tju, who previously played Margot in the television series I Know What You Did Last Summer and Alex Portnoy in the series Light as a Feather.

David (Keith Powers)

Few Ugly People believe David is real, but he actually is, and he’s played by Keith Powers. You may know him from Freeform’s short-lived “Famous in Love” or from films like “The Tomorrow War,” “Before I Fall” and “Straight Outta Compton.”

Dr. Cable (Laverne Cox)

Every good dystopian story needs a villain and in this case it’s Dr. Cable. She’s played by four-time Emmy nominee Laverne Cox, from “Orange Is the New Black.”

Croy (Jan Luis Castellanos)

Croy is David’s second-in-command and is immediately skeptical of Tally. He is played by Jan Luis Castellanos, who played Diego Torres in 13 Reasons Why and Tommy Torres in Tall Girl 2.
