Kansas vs. UNLV odds, line, spread: Computer model reveals college football picks and predictions for Week 3, 2024

The Kansas Jayhawks will look to return to their winning streak when they host the UNLV Rebels on Friday at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas. Kansas (1-1) is coming off a 23-17 loss to Illinois that ended its streak of three consecutive games with at least 48 points scored. UNLV (2-0) is trying to win its first three games of the season for the first time since 1984 after crushing Utah Tech 72-14 last week. The Jayhawks defeated the Rebels 49-36 in the 2023 Guaranteed Rate Bowl last December to improve their record to 2-1 overall.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. The Jayhawks are a 9-point favorite in the latest Kansas vs. UNLV odds from SportsLine Consensus, while the over/under for total points is set at 57.5. Before making any UNLV vs. Kansas picks or CFB predictions, you need to see what the SportsLine Projection Model has to say.

The model simulates every FBS college football game 10,000 times. Since its inception, it has generated over $2,000 in profit for $100 players on its top-rated college football picks against the spread. It also has a profitable 13-9 season on top-rated spread picks and starts this season 4-0 on over/under picks. Anyone who has been following it has seen STRONG returns!

The model knows that Kansas has had no trouble scoring points in its last two meetings with UNLV, scoring 46 points in its 2003 win before falling just under the 50-point mark in last year’s bowl matchup. Running back Devin Neal, who rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown in that win, has topped 100 yards in five straight regular-season games and in seven of his last nine games last season. Wide receiver Luke Grimm caught four passes for 160 yards and three touchdowns against the Rebels last December and caught a touchdown pass in each of the Jayhawks’ first two games this year.

The model also takes into account that UNLV has an 11-3 record since Barry Odom replaced Marcus Arroyo as head coach at the start of the 2023 season. Three of quarterback Matthew Sluka’s eight passes against Utah Tech last week were touchdowns – all to wide receiver Ricky White III, who had 111 receiving yards – while running back Greg Burrell ran for 101 yards and a touchdown. White had seven receptions for 97 yards and a TD against Kansas in the 2023 Guaranteed Rate Bowl, while Jacob De Jesus made eight catches for 95 yards and ran for 40 yards and a touchdown.

The model has simulated Kansas vs. UNLV 10,000 times and the results are in. We can tell you that the model is overall biased too wide, and it also says that one side of the range will occur well over 50% of the time!
