The Philadelphia Phillies have Kyle Schwarber and JT Realmuto back in the lineup tonight for their series opener against NL East rival New York Mets after both players missed several days with various injuries.

Schwarber missed a game with a hyperextended left elbow and will bat first, while Realmuto has not played since September 6 after fouling a ball to his left knee and suffering a knee bruise. Realmuto will bat fifth in the Series opener against the Mets.

What’s the injury situation for the rest of the Phillies? Phillies manager Rob Thomson gave an update before the game.

Alec Bohm (left hand)

Thomson said Bohm came along and did some machine work with a full-size (33-inch) bat. Bohm did not get a shot and his hand is bandaged.

Is a rehab assignment possible for Bohm? Thomson would like to see it, even though the minor league regular season ends this weekend.

Spencer Turnbull (right latissimus strain)

Thomson said Turnbull took part in batting practice and will pitch again Monday. He reached 92 mph and threw in the 30-pitch range. Turnbull has not pitched since June 27 and is expected to return at the end of September.

Edmundo Sosa (back)

Sosa will play a full simulated game on Friday and run the bases on Saturday. He could get a couple of snaps at bat at Triple-A Lehigh Valley before returning. Sosa was placed on the 10-day IL on Sunday because of back spasms.

Austin Hays (kidney tear)

Hays hasn’t hit yet, but he’s been pitching and doing prep work. Thomson wouldn’t commit to Hays returning for the regular season. He was on the 10-day injury list since 5 Sept.
