Tom Brady will coach the Saints-Cowboys on Sunday and not the Seahawks-Patriots

In case you haven’t heard, Tom Brady made his commentating debut last Sunday in Cleveland at the Cowboys-Browns game, and this week he’s working another game in Dallas.

He will be on at 1 p.m. ET for the Saints-Cowboys game, mainly because CBS is broadcasting the Bengals-Chiefs doubleheader this week.

The better option for Brady would have been Seahawks-Patriots, since it’s a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX and since Brady knows a thing or two about the Patriots.

The Saints-Cowboys game will likely draw more people in America to attend, because the Cowboys continue to be America’s team. And with Brady’s access extremely limited (due to his impending purchase of a stake in the Raiders), the more he works at Cowboys games, the easier it will be for him to prepare.

Brady’s results in his first game were, as expected, mixed. Fox let the hype get out of control. He was destined to perform below his potential. Especially since commentating games seems beneath him – even at $37.5 million a year.

Everything gets better with repetition. And in a roundabout way, Brady’s largely ordinary performance and his largely ordinary (at best) speaking voice will make him more authentically human. Because they are not the result of a conscious effort to become more human.

Like this roast.
