Bill Maher mocks Taylor Swift with ‘I don’t own a cat’ jibe after Harris pledges her support, reveals her ‘Travis Kelce’ mission

Bill Maher addressed some important topics ahead of the 2024 US elections in his recent episode of HBO’s Real Time, including this week’s big news about Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris. The host not only poked fun at the American singer’s support for the Democrat, but also claimed that the former has another mission.

Bill Maher seemed astonished by Taylor Swift's influence on the 2024 presidential election, considering it had previously been reported that Swift's endorsement had directed over 400,000 people to Vote.gov - a website that facilitates voter registration and directs users to their local state-level election websites. Maher seemed amazed at the pop star’s influence on the 2024 presidential election, considering it had previously been reported that Swift’s endorsement had directed over 400,000 people to Vote.gov – a website that facilitates voter registration and directs users to their local state election websites.

The comedian stressed that Swift had finally communicated to voters “who to vote for,” saying, “Of course, the reaction from the other side was immediately, ‘Celebrity endorsements don’t matter.’ People are always so behind on these things, you know. That’s been the general opinion for a long time, a lot of celebrity endorsements don’t work… in this case, they don’t – I mean, just the number of people who registered immediately after that tweet.”

He then stressed that George Clooney is “the one who made Biden withdraw” from the race for the White House.

Maher then attempted to explain the “surprising” number of fans Swift gained following her support for Harris after the debate.

“Swift, it is said, has more influence on male voters – 27% of male voters said they would be more likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by Swift. I must have completely misjudged this phenomenon. I thought it was women,” he noted.

During his show, also known as the “New Rules” segment, Maher claimed that after “saving democracy” by supporting Harris, Swift had another mission: “Stop making Travis Kelce dress like an idiot.” “I don’t have a cat, but I know what it smells like when they mark their territory.”

Swift endorsed Harris and her running mate Tim Walz on Instagram. “In the 2024 presidential election, I will be voting for Tim Walz and Kamala Harris,” she said.

The Grammy winner praised Harris as a “gifted leader” and mentioned that she was impressed by her choice of Walz, who has been a vocal advocate for “LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and a woman’s right to her own body” for decades.
