The Texas A&M football team has rebounded significantly after the disappointing home loss to Notre Dame in the season opener in Week 2.

Now the Aggies (1-1) are ready to open SEC play when they travel to Gainesville, Fla., to face the Florida Gators (1-1). Conner Weigman completed 11 of 14 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns, while Le’Veon Moss and Amari Daniels scored two rushing touchdowns in A&M’s 52-10 victory over McNeese State last week.

Florida rebounded from a 41-17 loss to rival Miami in Week 1 with a 45-7 victory over FCS Samford. In his first career start, true freshman DJ Lagway completed 18 of 25 passes for 456 yards and three touchdowns. Starting quarterback Graham Mertz missed the Week 2 game after being placed in concussion protocol. He could return to the starting lineup this week.

This is A&M’s first trip to the Swamp since 2017, when the Aggies defeated the Gators 19-17. The overall series between the programs is tied 3-3, with Texas A&M winning the last meeting 41-24 on Nov. 5, 2022. The Gators’ last win in the series was 41-38 on Oct. 10, 2020 in College Station.
