After the “victory” in the debate, CNN moderator admits that people still “don’t really know” Harris’ policies

CNN anchor Sara Sidner recently wondered what Vice President Kamala Harris needs to do to show people who she is, since some are still unclear about her actual policies.

In a recent CNN News Central segment, Sidner asked Politico national political correspondent Meredith McGraw about how Harris could properly introduce herself to voters, noting that persistent polling shows Americans don’t really know what she has to offer as a presidential candidate.

“That’s what comes up again and again in voting, that people don’t really know what their politics are about,” the moderator told McGraw.

Bernie Sanders says Harris is abandoning her far-left policies “to win the election.”

Sidner’s reporting revealed that while Harris was viewed by many pundits and mainstream media voters as the winner of Monday night’s presidential debate with former President Trump, her positions on the issues that evening were not particularly clear.

The moderator asked McGraw, “Meridith, as you look at this campaign and see some of the things that are being done, does she, Kamala Harris, need to do more to explain her policies to the public?”

The Politico reporter agreed, noting that “one of the big questions” voters continue to ask is where politics lies.

“What are her political goals? How will she try to differentiate herself from President Biden? And who is Kamala Harris?” the reporter asked, listing the various questions Americans have for the Democratic candidate.

The reporter said Trump had the advantage in this area, saying, “Many voters know Donald Trump – know who he is – and one of the goals of Harris’ campaign was to introduce her to the public and help her understand who she is and what her story is.”

U.S. President Joe Biden and Democratic presidential candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris attend a ceremony marking the 23rd anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in Manhattan, New York City, on September 11, 2024.

“And we saw that on the debate stage. She talked about her upbringing and tried to help voters understand her views,” McGraw explained, although she noted that her performance during the debate was not enough to familiarize voters with her actual agenda.

“But you know, Harris’ campaign needs to try to communicate her policy goals more clearly to voters during the campaign,” she said, adding, “And we know from the campaign that she’s going to be doing more interviews, which is something we haven’t seen much of from her in recent weeks.”

Throughout her campaign – since she was endorsed by President Biden as his successor on the presidential ticket – Harris has been criticized for avoiding formal press conferences and interviews.

So far, the Harris-Walz team has given at least 49 interviews since the formation of the Harris-Walz ticket, compared to just 10 unscripted interviews for the Democratic presidential ticket.

McGraw also told Sidner that from now until November, Harris will “really try to expand her outreach to voters who have questions about her and her policies.”

The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
