The up-and-coming Brazilian was the quicker, sharper and more active of the two from the start, taking an early lead before gaining on both sides in the second round, leaving the tireless Mexican wearing a crimson mask after a clash of heads. Aldana turned up the pressure and had her greatest success in the third round, but Dumont was still able to land good punches of her own and fend off her attacks.
Dumont picked up a clear victory to secure her fifth straight win and improve her record in the Octagon to 8-2 overall. The 33-year-old has now knocked out a former champion and a former title challenger in back-to-back fights and should find herself in the top five when the rankings are updated next week.
The championship fights are scheduled for five rounds. All other fights are scheduled for three rounds.
