LAS VEGAS – Saturday’s 10-fight schedule at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, headlined by Saul “Canelo” Alvarez against Edgar Berlanga, began with three non-televised bouts that all ended in the second round.

Cuban middleweight Yoenli Feliciano Hernandez, trained by Eddie Reynoso, impressed with an effortless knockout of Jose Sanchez Charles. From the first bell, Hernandez (5-0, 5 KOs) stalked Charles with a stiff jab as Charles backed away uncertainly. At the end of the opening bout, Hernandez caught Charles (21-6-1, 12 KOs) with a right straight as the bell rang to end the first round, causing Charles’ legs to wobble before he staggered back to his corner.

In the second round, Hernandez used slick footwork to get into position and land his powerful right hand. A quick punch up close sent Charles down for an eight count before Hernandez backed him into the ropes and delivered a right hand that sent him to the mat. Referee Thomas Taylor waved off the fight without counting at 1:45, and Hernandez watched intently until Charles finally got back to his feet.

In the light heavyweight division, Lawrence King (17-1, 14 KOs) knocked down Vaughn Williams (12-2, 8 KOs) three times in the second of eight scheduled rounds, after which referee Robert Hoyle stopped the fight after 2:15 minutes.

In the opening fight of the evening, super middleweight Bek Nurmaganbet (12-0, 10 KOs) remained undefeated and defeated Joshua Conley (17-7-1, 11 KOs) in the second round. The round time was 2:24.
