India’s record gas production is expected to ensure high competitiveness in the energy sector

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi praised the country’s energy performance in gas production during the financial year 2023-24, ultimately reflecting the sector’s commitment to national development and securing India’s role as a top competitor in the global market.


“Congratulations to our countrymen on this achievement! Our self-reliance in the energy sector is very important to achieve the determination of a developed India. This record in gas production is a direct proof of our commitment in this direction.”

Gas production in India was 28.7 billion cubic metres (bcm) in the year 2020-2021, while it has been increased to 36.43 bcm for the year 2023-2024. The information was announced by the Indian Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Hardeep Singh Purireported by

According to data presented by the ministry, the sector expects increasing growth and is expected to produce 45.3 billion cubic meters of gas in 2026.


“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is moving forward with renewed energy, enthusiasm and determination. In this context, the country has further accelerated its pace of self-reliance by setting a new record in gas production.”added Puri.

Earlier, the minister had mentioned that India is one of the countries with the lowest fuel prices and is the only country where prices have come down in the last two to three years.
