So what are my credentials? I’ve been on the BuzzFeed shopping team since September 2016, and while I’m *technically* a generalist, I’ve written TONS of home stories, which you’ve probably come across if you’re reading this. And before that, I was at This Old House Magazine for about 4.5 years, so if there’s a home product, I’ve probably thought about it more than you can imagine.
Writing about products for a living is quite a self-fulfilling prophecy because I often end up buying things I researched for a story and then talked myself into buying! Hence this story.
To paint a picture of my living situation: I live alone in a one-bedroom apartment in New York City. My bathroom is small and doesn’t have much storage, my kitchen is open to my also-small living room, I lucked out with two large closets, and my bedroom is big enough to set it up like a studio (i.e. my bed, sofa, TV, and dresser are all there). Living in a one-bedroom apartment accessed by stairs isn’t for everyone, but I love it! So some of my items are more related to problem-solving for a place that isn’t mine and is pre-war (i.e. it was built before WWII). But! All of my home favorites below would *also* work well in other living situations, like a home with a family! There are many products I would LOVE to have in my home, but I just don’t have the space for them. So this story is rather short because I have to be a little spartan with what I keep (well, as spartan as a shopping editor and maximalist can be).
