Osimhen’s transfer request confirmed, Napoli prepares for emergency sale

Napoli have confirmed that star striker Victor Osimhen is keen to leave the club this summer. The Serie A champions have braced themselves for a sell-off following their stunning title win and it looks like the Nigerian hitman could be the first big name to leave the club.

Osimhen has been linked with a number of European giants including PSG, Chelsea and Arsenal, but Napoli’s hefty €130m valuation proved to be a stumbling block. The Nigerian striker was also left out of the squad for the Coppa Italia clash against Modena, suggesting his future is uncertain.

Via a report by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Napoli director Giovanni Manna has confirmed that Osimhen will leave the club this summer.

“Victor Osimhen has asked to leave the club. He wants to leave,” said Manna

“The situation is clear, there were already opportunities for his departure last summer. Victor wants to leave, we will see in the next 20 days.”

Who are Victor Osimhen’s admirers?

Chelsea and Arsenal emerged as the most serious contenders for Osimhen’s signature. The Blues have even explored the possibility of including Romelu Lukaku in a deal, while the Gunners have also expressed their interest. However, Osimhen is believed to be keen on a permanent move, having turned down a loan option.

The Nigerian striker’s hefty €325,000-per-week salary has also complicated matters, with several clubs hesitant to meet his wage demands. Despite interest from Saudi Arabia, Osimhen remains focused on a move within Europe.

With the transfer window closing soon, Napoli are under pressure to cash in on their prized asset. Although the club are reluctant to part with their top goalscorer for less than a hundred million, Osimhen’s determination to leave the club has left him with no choice but to negotiate a deal.
