Joe Burrow is in disbelief after Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs were reprimanded late for pass interference

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs benefited from a defensive pass interference penalty that helped them score a game-winning field goal on their final drive in Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The referees ruled that Daijah Anthony hit Rashee Rice before the Chiefs wide receiver had an opportunity to complete a long pass on fourth-and-16, giving Kansas City new attempts with 38 seconds left in the game.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow couldn’t believe the penalty at all and his frustrated reaction was caught by cameras as he watched from the sidelines.

Burrow had his arms in the air to celebrate the incomplete pass that would have given Cincinnati its first win of the season, but when he realized a flag was being thrown, he was immediately angered. He took off his helmet and slammed it on the ground in frustration.

It was certainly a disappointing ending for the Bengals, and especially for Burrow, who could do nothing but watch from the sidelines as Anthony’s second pass interference penalty of the game gave the Chiefs prime position for a Harrison Butker field goal.

Butker converted a 51-yard field goal and fired it through the goal posts to give the Chiefs a 26-25 win as Cincinnati fell to 0-2 on the year.
