Hollywood is in the plaid age.

A few days after Taylor Swift walked the VMAs red carpet in a plaid Dior ensemble, Alan Cumming walked the 76th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards in classic pattern.

At the awards ceremony on Sunday, September 15, the 59-year-old actor paid tribute to his native Scotland by wearing a white jacket with a checkered wrap detail over a black kilt. Speaking to PEOPLE on the red carpet, Cumming revealed that the ensemble was by Teddy Vonranson.

When asked about fans’ comments that Swift’s VMA look was reminiscent of Cummings’ wardrobe in his series The traitorsthe actor teasingly replied: “The bitch stole my look.”

He continued, “It was hilarious because actually I have a look that’s obviously very similar in the next season, but I find it hilarious that so many people have somehow said Taylor Swift looks like Alan Cumming, a phrase I never thought I’d ever hear.”

Cumming is known for his role in The traitorsa reality series with a crime competition. The show takes place in an old castle in Scotland and is hosted by Spy Kids The actor now wears many different eye-catching check patterns.

Earlier this week, the actor took to social media to jokingly criticize Swift for their similarities in appearance. “Um, @taylorswift,” he wrote under an Instagram post that featured a collage of images of The traitors next to a shot of Swift at the VMAs.

Swift’s sexy look consisted of a yellow checkered bustier top with an attached skirt, a pair of black velvet hot pants and lattice-patterned leather gloves, all by Dior. She also wore over-the-knee boots by Stuart Weitzman and opted for particularly vampy makeup. Her hair was styled with textured waves and side-swept bangs.

She topped it off with 30-carat Lorraine Schwartz pear-shaped canary yellow diamond earrings surrounded by black jade to match the yellow check pattern.
