3 Lowcountry counties announce changes for Monday

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Both the Georgetown County School District and the Williamsburg County School District have announced that all schools and facilities will be closed Monday due to a tropical storm.

The Charleston County School District will not close, but will switch to an eLearning day for students on Monday. However, other extracurricular activities and after-school programs will be canceled, according to the Charleston County School District.

All school activities, including sporting events and practices, are cancelled and postponed due to the tropical potential of Tropical Cyclone 8.

According to Communications Director Kristi Kibler, the decision was made to designate Monday, October 7, 2024, as a catch-up eLearning day for the Georgetown County School District.

The school district will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout Georgetown County.

According to the Williamsburg County School District, employees should continue to work if they can.

Normal operations are expected to resume in both school districts on Tuesday.
