Glen Powell is “incredibly proud” of Lamorne Morris after his 2024 Emmys win

Minutes after Morris won his first-ever Emmy Award, Powell praised him in his Instagram stories, writing, “So incredibly proud of my friend.”

Powell, 35, and Morris, 41, starred in the 2014 film Sex education together, and Powell shared a black-and-white photo of the couple posing in matching pilot overalls while celebrating Morris’ “new title.”

He also added a crying face emoji and an applause emoji to the post, tagging Morris and calling him an “Emmy winner.”

Hannah Simone, who starred alongside Morris in New Girlalso congratulated him. “I never have a doubt,” she wrote in her Instagram stories. “So proud of my former roommate and eternal work brother.”

Max Greenfield, another former New Girl Star, shared Morris’ acceptance speech on his Instagram stories and added a crown emoji.

Morris received the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries, Anthology or Movie for his role as Deputy Witt Farr in Fargo. In his acceptance speech, he praised his “gorgeous mother,” whom he described as “my biggest advocate since, you know, I fell out of her, her butt, whatever, I know where babies come from.”

The New Girl The star also thanked his four-year-old daughter Lily, teasing her: “I told you I would do it, you always doubted me.”

“All the people at FX, my wonderful cast, my management team, God, I forget so many people,” Morris continued, before mentioning one of his own role models who was nominated in the same category. “My fellow nominees – Robert Downey Jr., I have a poster of you at my house, please sign it, seriously.”

Last month, Morris revealed that he had documented his reaction to his first-ever Emmy nomination and that his daughter took his reaction with some humor.

In a video he shared on Instagram and TikTok, Morris became emotional while on the phone, but his daughter Lily didn’t feel the tears.

“Daddy, are you crying again?” she asked him several times before he said to the person on the phone, “Oh God. Lily said, ‘Are you crying, Daddy?'”

In the caption, he joked about the moment, writing, “When I got the call about the Emmy nomination, my daughter thought it would be fun to make fun of me.”
