The Chiefs got a little help on the final drive of the game. The Bengals had the Chiefs at bay on fourth-and-16 when Patrick Mahomes ran and found Rashee Rice in minimal space trying to catch a ball and extend the drive. Instead, Bengals defensive back Daijahn Anthony collided with Rice early, resulting in a pass interference penalty.

This gave Kansas City additional attacking opportunities and Butker was within range to score a field goal.

Mahomes didn’t exactly have his best game, completing 18 of 25 passes for 151 yards, two touchdown passes, and throwing two interceptions, including one to Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt, who made an incredible play that resulted in the turnover.

On the next drive, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow dropped the ball, Chamarri Conner picked it up and returned it for a touchdown. Conner’s touchdown gave the Chiefs a 23-22 lead.

Burrow pulled himself together and led the Bengals on an eight-play, 33-yard drive that ended with an Evan McPherson field goal. The drive might have ended differently had Ja’Marr Chase not received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for his interaction with a referee.

Burrow was 23 of 36 passing for 258 yards and two touchdown passes. Tight end Mike Gesicki caught seven passes for 91 yards. Chase caught four passes for 35 yards.
