Jackie’s Sandwich Shop: Honoring family and community

DANVILLE Matt Haller and Jackie Haller enjoy their life in Danville.

The co-owners of Jackie’s Sandwich Shop, 505 S. Market St., operate their restaurant with a “community philosophy.”

There the couple found peace in chaotic moments.

Opening hours of Jackie’s Sandwich Shop

  • Thursday-Saturday 11am to 6pm
  • Sunday 11am to 3pm

Jackie’s Sandwich Shop is co-owned by the Hallers, who returned to Danville from Grandview Heights three years ago while Matt grew up in Danville.

Jackie said his friends and family know Matt as a chef and for his ability to make sandwiches for any occasion. Now he’s living his dream.

“Most people don’t have the opportunity to realize their dreams, and we did it,” Jackie said.

The Hallers began preparing their store in March, Jackie said.

A sandwich on Jackie’s menu features traditional Italian beef, seared and dipped in a homemade broth.

“We really put love into our food,” Jackie said. “It doesn’t come out of a box. Everything in it is handmade.”

The creation of the “hero sandwiches” shows appreciation for family – another focus of Jackie’s sandwich shop.

Matt Haller lost his cousin Scott Hosler, a Marine, to cancer two years ago.

“My vision is to honor him,” Jackie said.

To honor Hosler, a customer can purchase a sandwich for someone who has served or is currently serving in the armed forces or first responders.
