Charges against Combs have not been made public, and Damian Williams, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, told various news outlets that the arrest was based on a “sealed indictment from the SDNY.”
Williams added that his office expects to release the charges Tuesday morning and will “be able to say more at that time.”
In a statement provided to several news outlets, Combs’ attorney expressed disappointment at the U.S. Attorney’s decision to pursue “unjustified prosecution of Mr. Combs” and described him as a “music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man and proven philanthropist.”
The statement added that Combs had “fully cooperated with this investigation” and “voluntarily relocated to New York last week” in anticipation of these charges.
