ESPN analyst Jesse Palmer pokes fun at Florida fan with “friendzone” quip

How can it get worse if you’re a Florida Gators fan? Oh, it does.

ESPN co-commentator Jesse Palmer, host of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” friend-zoned a male Florida fan during the broadcast of the Gators’ 33-20 loss to Texas A&M on Saturday.

Palmer made fun of the fan’s moustache and the blue and orange overalls he wore without an undershirt while sitting in the stands with a group of girls.

“He has a mustache … I’m going to make a bold prediction,” Palmer, who played quarterback for the Gators in the late 1990s, said two minutes before the end of the fourth quarter, describing the fan.

“I’d say the guy is in the friend zone.”

ESPN live commentator Joe Tessitore couldn’t stop laughing.

“Look, you’re a top analyst. I’ll just say it: You know how to do analysis,” Tessitore said.

“Years-long relationships and dating, I see that up close and personal in my other job,” Palmer explained, referring to “The Bachelor” on ABC.

“I think I would say he’s a good listener.”

“Bachelor Nation desperately needs this kind of analysis, Katie,” Tessitore told sideline reporter Katie George.

“Don’t kick anyone who’s already down, Jesse! Leave him alone,” George added.

“No! I think he’s a great guy,” Palmer said. “I don’t think he’s a bad guy. I’m just saying I don’t think he’s dating anyone in the picture right now.”

The attack occurred as ESPN cameras were focused on him and the group of girls wearing the Gators’ blue and orange colors, including two wearing the same overalls.

The loss to Texas A&M dropped Florida’s record to 1-2 after being crushed 41-17 by Miami in their opener. The Gators’ lone win was against Samford.

The video went viral on social media and many couldn’t help but voice their opinions.

“After this I have no choice but to move to Florida St.,” someone wrote on X.

“This is crazy, there is no going back from this. The guy will have a new outfit, a new fitness routine, a new diet plan and a new group of friends,” wrote one person on X.

“Jesse Palmer is so underrated,” added another.

Florida’s next game is on September 21 against Mississippi State.
