The post-apocalyptic horror franchise A quiet place continues to prove its stamina with the latest edition, A quiet place: day oneand brought in solid numbers at the box office. The film, which serves as a prequel to the original 2018 hit, has managed to achieve success of its own, even if it faces the daunting task of living up to its predecessors. On the weekend of Friday, August 9, to Sunday, August 11, A quiet place: day onegrossed an estimated $475,000 from 468 locations across the United States, bringing the domestic total to an impressive $138.5 million and demonstrating how popular the film is with audiences who continue to flock to theaters despite the film’s availability on VOD.


International, A quiet place: day one earned $255,000 in 46 markets in its seventh weekend, bringing its foreign total to $122.2 million. While these numbers are respectable, they show that Day one lags behind the previous entries in the franchise. The original A quiet place grossed an incredible $334 million worldwide, while the 2020 sequel, A quiet place part IIbrought in $296 million.

The worldwide box office figures for A quiet place: day one is now $260.7 million, including both domestic and international revenues. While these numbers are strong, they suggest that Day one are unlikely to surpass the total earnings of the earlier films in the series, especially given the film’s current availability on VOD, which typically marks the end of its most lucrative theatrical run.

In her review for Collider Emma Kiely praised the film for its fresh approach to the franchise’s established premise.

“A Quiet Place: Day One has a lot more to say about humanity than the trailer suggests,” writes Kiely. “We’ve seen people fight for survival in every possible situation.
Day one
manages to stand out in both its subgenre and franchise by tackling man versus monster in a different way. It may not be the best horror film or action film, but its brilliant characterization, simple yet effective script, and outstanding performances make it a strong contender in the action/alien/survival subgenres.”
