Mallorca will be dejected after conceding a late goal in their home game against Villarreal on Saturday and losing 2-1.

However, Mallorca’s task became increasingly difficult as Toni Lato were shown the red card in the 69th minute, and although they did their best to keep the tie, their resistance was ultimately broken by Ayoze PerezEqualizer in injury time.

Arrasate will be frustrated not only by Saturday’s result but also by having started his tenure with just one win in five games, with that lone victory coming on matchday four against newly promoted Leganes.

They are also one of six teams yet to win a home La Liga game this season, having drawn at home with Real Madrid and Sevilla before losing to Villarreal on Saturday.

Their hopes of taking all three points on Tuesday may be dampened by the fact that they have failed to win any of their last five competitive home games against Real Sociedad since a 1-0 victory in September 2012.

Real Sociedad had a disappointing start to the season: of their first five league games, the team won one, drew one and lost three.

La Real will be particularly frustrated by having lost all three of their home games this season, including Saturday’s clash against reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid.

Real Sociedad hit the post three times before Vinicius Junior And Kylian Mbappe converted their respective penalties as Real Madrid won 2-0 and Imanol AlguacilThe team suffered its third consecutive defeat.

Having scored three goals in five games, Alguacil knows his team will have to improve in the final third if they are to climb the table and challenge for a top-six place for the sixth consecutive season.

Despite their poor form, La Real may still fancy their chances of taking all three points from Tuesday’s match after winning eight of their last nine La Liga games against Mallorca, including a league double in the 2023-24 season.

We think: Mallorca 1-2 Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad may have had a disappointing start to the season but they usually fare well in meetings with Mallorca and we believe they will take inspiration from that record and record their ninth win in ten direct league meetings between the two sides.
