Maman, New York City’s popular French-inspired all-day cafe, will open its doors at a West Palm Beach location on Monday, August 12.

Founded in 2014 by Elisa Marshall and Benjamin Sormonte, the cafe’s newest location is located in the heart of CityPlace, one of West Palm Beach’s most popular entertainment, dining and shopping destinations.

Marketing director Andrea Szot said Marshall and Sormonte moved from New York to Miami earlier this year and that West Palm Beach had been on their radar as a preferred region for expansion.

“When we came to South Florida, we knew Maman would come to West Palm Beach. The area’s vibrant and diverse community, as well as its scenic surroundings, are a perfect fit with Maman’s ethos,” said Marshall.

Szot also said they have many long-time customers from New York who have moved to the area in recent years and are constantly asking, “Are you ever going to open in West Palm Beach? They would do so well here.”

Maman means “mother” in French

Maman, which means “mother” in French, is the fusion of the founding partners’ memories of their childhood in the kitchen and their mothers’ recipes. This, combined with a passion for great food and a flawless experience in a warm environment, is at the core of their brand.

This “warm atmosphere” is no coincidence. The restaurant is furnished with imported French antique furniture and a decor inspired by the southern French province. This includes handmade hanging lamps made from shells and natural materials, as well as hand-painted floors and walls.

Inspired by the local South Florida vegetation, whimsical floral installations by Floratorium will adorn the walls and ceilings, using Spanish moss and air plants to create banyan-like trees. There will also be custom-designed toile-print espresso machines for the site and imported blue-and-white tiles on the counter facade and in the bathrooms.

In addition to an impressively decorated interior, Maman West Palm Beach takes advantage of the South Florida weather with a large outdoor seating area.

Whether you want to grab a coffee, enjoy an espresso while you work, sit down with friends for lunch or drink cocktails for brunch on the weekend, Maman is all of that in one.

The menu includes coffee, tea, juices, pastries (baked fresh in-house daily), sandwiches, tartines, salads, soups and classics such as the quiche of the day, omelettes, Belgian waffles, overnight oats and more.

If you’re visiting Maman for the first time, Szot has a few suggestions for you: Try Raquel’s kale Caesar salad with roasted chicken, shaved Parmesan, country bread croutons and pickled onions with house-made Caesar dressing and the everything croissant salmon sandwich with smoked salmon, fresh herbs and “everything bagel” seasoning.

In addition to a wide selection of classic croissants, including natural, almond, pistachio chocolate and pain au croissants, Maman also offers seasonal croissants.

For the South Florida market, Maman has several area-specific offerings, including a honey lavender latte and a guava mint lemonade.

Maman West Palm Beach has a daily happy hour with cocktails, beer and wine from 3pm to 6pm on weekdays and 4pm to 6pm on weekends. Classic cocktails and wine are available for $8.

During the week, Maman West Palm Beach offers counter service, where you order, sit down, and the food is brought to you. On weekends, they offer traditional table service brunch.
