Game preview, lineups and thread for Orioles vs. Giants

Game preview, lineups and thread for Orioles vs. Giants

I always wish that the Orioles and Giants would play each other in the World Series on Halloween. So much orange and black! It won’t happen this year, as the Giants are in fourth place in their division. But maybe someday.

This is the last series the Orioles will play against a team with a sub-.500 record this year. Will they make the most of it? Albert Suárez, known to some as the ace of this team, is on the mound opposite Blake Snell of the Giants. If I had told you before this season began that Albert Suárez would have a lower ERA than Blake Snell in mid-September, what would you say? I would probably say, “Who is Albert Suárez?”

That’s not to say Snell is having a bad year, because it’s not. Snell has allowed just one home run since the beginning of August and has a 1.83 ERA during that time. He’s made eight starts during that time, one of which was a no-hitter.

He’s had a few odd starts during that time, though. One time he went three innings without allowing a hit and six walks. Another time he threw 42 pitches in the first inning and didn’t return. But those are outliers.

Strange news about the Orioles lineup: Coby Mayo is playing first base. Gunnar has been moved to third base, which I don’t like. And Jackson Holliday is once again on the bench to replace Livan Soto. Maybe it will work? I’m sick of the constant lineup changes.
