Sofia Vergara received incredible reviews following her portrayal of Griselda in the Netflix series that explores the life of the infamous Griselda Blanco. The Colombian actress was nominated for the 2024 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Mini- or Anthology Series or a Movie, but despite her spectacular performance, she did not take home the award.

And while many of her fans were disappointed and expressed their opinion about the award on social media, Sofia reacted very differently. The coveted award ultimately went to Jodie Foster for “True Detective: Night Country.”

The Hollywood star showed her reaction on Instagram with her unique sense of humor, joking about her defeat. “They stole the Emmy from me for the fifth time,” she said in Spanish as she left the awards ceremony, referring to her previous four nominations for the fan-favorite series “Modern Family.”

Sofia’s fans agreed. “You may not have won the Emmy, but you won our hearts,” one person wrote, while someone else commented, “Thank you for being a shining example of Latino excellence. Your hard work and perseverance inspire us all to pursue our dreams and never give up!”

Despite her loss, Sofia previously said she was honored to receive recognition for Griselda. “I never thought I would be able to work on something as special as Griselda after Modern Family,” she said after the nomination was announced. “Griselda was my first dramatic role ever and it took us 15 years to bring her to life. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who was a part of this show.”

“I had to really examine what it meant to be a woman during that time. A mother, a Colombian woman… who turned into this monster. So it was a really difficult task for me to understand that,” she told People.
