Emily in Paris’ Ashley Park has shared the uncomfortable realization that led to her romance with co-star Paul Forman.
Park, who plays Mindy Chen in the series, is currently in a real-life relationship with her on-screen boyfriend Forman (who plays Nicolas de Léon).
However, things did not always go so smoothly, as Park was determined “never to date an actor again.”

“I would never fall in love with someone who looked so flawless. So we were just friends. We just hung out in a very platonic way,” she said Cosmopolitan.
When Park was later invited by the International Medical Corps to volunteer to care for Ukrainian refugees in Poland, she asked Forman to accompany her.
“Fast forward, we were shooting one of our last scenes together and he said, ‘I’m really attached to you.'”
Although she put her feelings aside, Parks’ co-star Lily Collins noticed the chemistry and asked if there was anything going on between the two.

“I told her, ‘Lily, it’s sad that you don’t believe in my development, because he’s exactly the type of man I said I wouldn’t get involved with,'” Park said. “‘I told you so, and that’s why I really want you to believe me as my girlfriend.'”
But then the actress realized that Collins was right about her feelings for Forman, and she had to admit that the two were in love.
“I was like, ‘Oh my God, I lied to my best friend. I really like this guy. What am I going to do?'” she explained. “So I had to do a little loss of dignity tour. I had to say, ‘Lily, everyone, we are so in love.’ That was about two years ago.”
Emily in Paris Seasons 1 through 3 stream on Netflix. Season 4 Part 1 premieres on Thursday, August 15, followed by Season 4 Part 2 on Thursday, September 12.
